The scope of work for the Phase 1 project includes demolishing existing buildings that were over 50 years old and reorganizing parking areas, natural landscape area, and underground site utilities. The construction of new buildings includes the Student Services and Counseling Center, Media Center, Science Center, and the School of Engineering.
The Student Services and Counseling Center is a single-story building placed at the front of the school campus for public access and is approximately 10,000 square feet. It is composed of counseling, attendance, student store, health services, and parent center.
The Media Center is also a single-story building placed at the front of the school campus for public access and is approximately 16,000 square feet. It is composed of circulation desk, textbook room, workroom, computer lab, reading room, stacks area, outdoor reading area, and career center.
The Science Center is a two-story building of approximately 30,000 square feet consisting of biology labs, physics labs, chemistry labs, workrooms, professional development center, and outdoor teaching spaces with a courtyard arrangement.
The School of Engineering is composed of one two-story building and two one-story building totaling approximately 40,000 square feet. The heart of the complex is the student gallery with a two-story volume, academy classrooms, metal shops, computer labs, material storage, exterior work yard, finishing/spray rooms, and outdoor teaching spaces with a courtyard arrangement.
